Libman Freedom Mop Review and Giveaway

I am enamored of the new Libman Freedom Spray Mop.

I am a known clean freak- I like to have my house just so (which my family makes very difficult). They say I am OCD, I say I just like things to be clean.

Anyway- mopping has always been a chore. I've tried several of these mops with the cleaning solution bottle attached- and they leak or just don't work right.

But now- finally I have one that works and I can put any floor cleaning solution in it that I choose. My favorite- Better Life's Simply Floored.

I love that the Libman Freedom mop has a reusable cleanable washcloth style head- not a disposable toss it and put on a new one deal like some mops that shall remain unnamed.

The cleaning solution bottle fits in nice and tight- no leaks- and works like a charm. No buckets to lug around filled with messy water that splashes everywhere. This mop is amazing.

The mop head cleans gently yet offers a little scrubby action when I need it like on a stubborn sticky spot that refuses to be gone gently. And I get plenty of those thanks to my four year old who likes to walk around with his food.

This mop is a great cleaning product any mom would be thrilled to add to her dirt fighting arsenal.

Fresh Garden Salsa

I decided this year to do something with all my tomatoes besides give them away since only my daughter, my mom and I eat them.

Salsa was my first choice in what to make- and it's been a tremendous success- my husband and sons are now eating fresh vegetables form my garden. Amazing.

To make the fresh garden salsa I use:

5-6 tomatoes depending on size

1 green pepper

4 garlic cloves- crushed with a garlic press

1 sweet onion

1 banana pepper

1-2 limes juiced

1 half package of taco bell taco seasoning

garlic salt to taste

Directions:

Chop up the tomatoes into small diced pieces- place in a colander with garlic slat sprinkled over the top to drain while chopping everything else

Chop up peppers and onion place in large bowl

Crush 4 or 5 cloves of garlic with a press and mix with onions and peppers

Sprinkle a bit of taco seasoning over everything

Juice a lime (or two if they are really small and you don't get much juice, you want at least a tablespoon and a half)

Start mixing tomatoes in- a little at a time- mix then sprinkle with seasoning then mix and add more seasoning

Drizzle the lime juice over the mixture and mix with a spoon

Add more seasoning to taste

It's best to let the salsa sit for a couple hours in the fridge to let the flavors soak together

I like my salsa chunky so I can eat as is with chips, veggies or crackers hubby puts his in the Bullet to blend it up so the veggies aren't in chunks.

I took some of this salsa to my friend and she's begging for more- literally begging. Said it's the best salsa she's ever had.

I must agree.

I am going to experiment with spicier versions by using different peppers- jalapeno or chili peppers will add heat to the salsa.

The salsa tasted good without the taco seaosning but I wanted to give it more flavor- a little extra oomph so I decided to add the taco seasoning which I use quite a bit for making fajita chicken, taco salads and breakfast burritoes.

I figured it would taste good in the salsa as well- and it did.

Cooking Green with Cuisinart’s GreenGourmet Skillet

Thanks to new green cookware options you can say goodbye to toxic Teflon pans filled with dangerous chemicals that off-gas into the air and can possibly leach into your food.

Cuisinart’s line of non-stick cookware is PTFE and PFOA free, which means that it contains none of the nasty chemicals that Teflon and similar non-stick coatings are formulated with.

Cuisinart’s GreenGourmet pans are petroleum free, have a hard anodized interior, an aluminum alloy core, and a Cuisinart Ceramica (TM) interior which is what makes the pan non-stick.
So what does all this mean? Keep reading to find out.

The Green Gourmet line by Cuisinart is very green. It is eco-friendly in many ways: the pans are constructed with energy savings in mind, the anodized material provides superior heat conductivity which requires less energy to heat, the stainless steel handle is made from 70% recycled stainless steel and it stays cool even while the pan is super hot. The best and most important part is the non-stick surface. No toxins here - it is actually made from ceramic, which means no petroleum-based chemicals.

Eco Backpacks for Back to School

Hemp Sisters has a nice selection of backpacks made from hemp. I like the hemp sling bag. It’s a one strap bag, the style my daughter really wants. The sling backpack is about 16 inches from top to bottom and 12 inches left to right. This is a bag is made to hold a lot which is perfect for school books. This might be a good option for my daughter.

The Organic Shoreline Drawstring Back Pack might be also be an option for my daughter. It is made from 100% organic cotton fiber it has adjustable straps and a heavy cord closure. I wonder if it will hold up to carrying school books.

Green Earth Office Supply has several hemp and recycled rubber back packs. The rubber packs are made from 100% post consumer recycled tires. The hemp ones are pretty stylish. The classic back pack bag is made from 100% hemp with recycled soda bottle lining. I love the ingenuity.

Land’s End has a few heavy duty back packs that are made from 100% recycled fabric. They are durable and heavy duty. They are very practical, these packs may be what your kids need to keep organized.

Another eco-backpack option is eco-packs by Dante Beatrix. The eco-backpacks come in small and large sizes and offer a couple designs that are kinda kid friendly. The packs are made with fabric created from recycled plastic bottles and trimmed with natural canvas.

Some of the Best Green Cleaning Products

Over the past couple of years a lot of eco-friendly cleaning products have hit the market. I’ve had the chance to try some of them. Some of them are okay, some are alright and others don’t work at all.

Here’s a list of some of the products that did work and worked really well. Products that I absolutely love and feel safe using. They are eco and they work. As an added bonus, some of them even smell good.

If you need a carpet cleaner or upholstery spotter to get out tough stains then Eco Mist Solutions Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Spray is one to try. It is made with: non-chlorinated water,
corn, tree sap, processed coconut extract, potatoes, soy, grains and grass. Eco Mist Solutions Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Spray works great without leaving any toxic fumes behind or any sticky soapy residue on the carpet or furniture. A big bonus for Eco Mist… no brown spots on my furniture. I love it. I can spot clean my sofa and loveseat and not worry about brown rings. On light colored furniture many products leave cellulosic browning stains behind- not Eco Mist.

Another great eco brand that I have tried is Better Life. I am in love with Better Life’s whatEVER! clary sage and citrus multipurpose cleaner. It cleans anything and everything and does it really well. The whatever spray lives up to its promises by cleaning whatever you need it to…naturally and with a very pleasant mild citrusy scent.

Thanks to GreenHalloween.org, the green Halloween movement has been growing every year.
