Writing in the Green

How much paper do writers waste? What do you do with all the convention flyers information and other things you’re never going to use again? I try to be green. I’m not the best, but I have become conscience about some of the waste I contribute to and try to change some of my habits. So here are a few ideas about what to do with all the extras we have hanging around.

1.      Of course recycle.

2.      I reuse paper I’ve printed on as scrap paper. I cut my old paper that’s only been print on 1 side and cut it in 4. It re-uses something and much cheaper than Post-Its.

3.      I shred colored paper to use as confetti.

4.      Bookmarks, trading cards, and other such materials can be used to decoupage a trinket box or other items. It makes great knick knacks to hold small items on your desk or great giveaways.

5.      I try to print as little as possible on paper. I try to read as many things online as possible. I save items to folders and on my flash drive.

6.      All those goodie bags are great to use as grocery bags. This will help eliminate the need for the store to give you bags and you don’t have to pay for the re-usable bags at the store.

7.      Donate old books to the library or start a book swap at work. I took 15 books to work and they were going in a matter of minutes. Usually Wonderbooks and Video will take books that the library will not take.

So, those are a few of my ideas. How do you re-purpose
