Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming
release.
I
just released Whisper’s Edge, which is the sequel to Whisper Walker. They’re YA
paranormal dystopian, set roughly eighty years after WWIII.
Are you a mom (or parent)?
Nope.
Just a single twenty-four year old writer. J
Have you ever based your book or characters on
actual events or people from your own life?
Definitely.
I think most, if not all writers, do at some point. A popular saying among
writers is “You have to live so you can write.” That doesn’t mean you have to
wait until you’re a certain age to write well. It’s just saying that, as
tempting as it is to become a total introvert and do nothing but write, you
still need to get out into the world and live a little. Make mistakes. Get in tough
situations. Whether you write fantasy, or dystopian, contemporary, sci-fi,
whatever, it all is fodder for your writing.
Is there a theme or message in your work that you
would like readers to connect to?
Mainly
just that, you may have been dealt a very poor hand in life, but no matter how
low you get, no matter how betrayed or alone you feel, there’s always a way up
and out. Sometimes it’s just hard to find. Trust me, I’ve been there.
What would your readers be surprised to learn about
you?
Shoot,
no idea. Hmm, that I had two adopted siblings, maybe? Both older than me, and
from Korea. I was especially close with my brother, Jared, until he passed from
cancer at seventeen.
When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have
any hobbies or guilty pleasures?
If
it’s outdoors, I’ve probably done it. Rock climbing, mountaineering,
backpacking, fishing, wakeboarding, playing in a rock band, and last but not
least, reading. I love a good book.
Which romance book or series (or other genre, if you
don’t write romance) do you wish you had written?
Boy,
that’s hard. I’d say the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne. Or Vampire
Academy by Richelle Mead. But, I’m also a huge fan of Lindsay Buroker’s
steampunk fantasy books.
Is there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that
you haven’t tackled yet?
Well,
I have a few new books in the works that are in my other chosen genres. One is
purely dystopian, while another is urban fantasy. Though, I’ll always have a
soft spot for anything paranormal.
Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is
your favorite and why?
Easy.
That’s Kelsie, the Co-Main Character in the Whisper Walker Series. She’s fun,
and feisty while being smart and very capable of taking care of herself.
If this book is part of a series…what is the next
book? Any details you can share?
Whisper’s
Edge is the second book in the series. There will be more, but other than the
little teaser at the end of Whisper’s Edge from book three, I can’t say
anymore.
What is next for you? Do you have any scheduled
upcoming releases or works in progress?
Yes,
I have a few more projects in the works. Trying for stuff with a slightly
different feel than the Whisper Walker Series.
What book are you reading now?
Shadow’s
Edge, by Brent Weeks.
What is in your to read pile?
Wow…a
LOT of books, too many to list. I just recently finished Origin by Jessica
Khoury, and I’m also reading Hex Hall right now as well as Shadow’s Edge. I
prefer to read more than one book at a time.

About the Author:
London Cole is an author of Paranormal Young-Adult novels and novellas. He resides in the large and highly over-heated state of Texas, though he is not originally from there. London was born in the Pacific Northwest, growing up on an Island very near Canada. That means that he is known to slip up and occasionally use words like “ehh” and pronounce “about” like “aboot”.
Growing up, he always wanted to write but never really knew where to start. Then he got sucked into classical music, against his will, at an early age. Unlike many, he never had imaginary friends as a child, though since he was born into a navy family, the constant moving made him a loner. It was easier to be a loner than try to make new friends all of the time. Being a loner, and having been forbidden from watching TV by his loving but sheltering mother, he turned to creating stories to entertain himself out of sheer boredom. Creating stories became a large part of his life to the point that he started narrating everything he did and conducting dialogue between multiple characters while in the shower.
When London wasn’t writing stories, he was reading them. He went through dozens of books a month, mainly mysteries that his mom checked out from the library.
Once he got older, after high school and college, he started to take writing seriously. He became more confident in his writing, and now, here we are today.
