Interview and Giveaway with Sandra Gore

Please share a little about yourself, your genres, any other pen names you use.

My first book was the non-fiction “Sex and the Zen of Shopping or How to Live Rich by Shopping Smart.” Shopping is to women what sex is to men; they can never get enough. I wrote as Sandra Gore Nielsen, my married name.

“Isis Erotica” and “Isis Beach Read,” the sanitized version of Isis, are written under my maiden name, Sandra Gore.

My pen name for The Red Mirror Series is S.L. Gore. I wanted to distinguish the series from Erotica.

I’m probably doing it all wrong. I’m just making up my life as I go along.

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

I’m finishing the 3rd novel of the Red Mirror Series, “The Black Scroll” about black magic in Roman North Africa with visits to modern Libya and London. Isis of Las Vegas travels through the Red Mirror to her life as Elektra and rises from slave to goddess.

Are you a mom (or parent)?

I’m a mom of two great adult children, a daughter 31 and a son 27.

If yes do you find it hard to juggle writing and parenting?

I don’t know if I could have written novels when my kids were small. They seemed to suck my creative energy. I loved them dearly and gave them my all. I’m very happy at this stage of my life when I can escape into my fantasy lands.

Have you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own life?

Most everything in my books stems from my life experience, which doesn’t mean that I tell it in exactly the way it happened. I’ve been in sand storms. I’ve sailed the Nile. I’ve never been kidnapped, but I’ve been in positions of no power.
The characters are drawn from people I know, but only loosely. They become real and unique when I put them on the page and “birth” them into this world. Antinous and Hector are two faces of my Viking husband.

Is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect to?

Women, be powerful! Use everything you’ve got to your advantage. Believe in your own power and don’t be afraid to use it.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

When people read my books, I think they might expect that I go around hunting men. Or that I have multiple lovers. In fact, I am happily married in a monogamous relationship since 1975.

When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?

Guilt? Maybe I like martinis too much. Or single malt whiskey. I love life, especially the beautiful parts, and suffer no guilt from any of it. If you look at my blog, you’ll see that cooking and decorating are big passions. I spend a lot of time on twitter, especially my political account @LVview which is focused on global social change, especially the Middle-East. Languages are also an obsession for me, as is foreign travelling and all things ancient and mysterious.

Which romance book or series (or other genre, if you don’t write romance) do you wish you had written?

I’d love to be the female, sexy version of Dan Brown.

Is there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?

I want to write a memoir of the years I spent hitchhiking in North Africa. Possible working titles: “Not in Kansas Anymore” or “Cowgirl in the Sand.”

Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?

Isis! In all her incarnations! Isis—every man’s dream. Athena—every woman’s dream. Elektra—Worship me!

Why? Isis has the Power. It takes her some time to learn to use it. Several lifetimes in fact. She evolves from the first page of the first book to the last page of the third. What a woman!

Who’s my favorite of the four incarnations of Isis? Athena of “The Emerald Tablet.” Intelligent, wise, sexy and balanced, she’s in charge of her sensuality and has great capacity for love. She’s so perfectly Greek. They were so brilliant. They said everything. We’ve been repeating their wisdom ever since.

If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?
“Isis Erotica” is drawn from the 1st book of the Red Mirror series titled “The Red Mirror.” I’m working on the 3rd book, “The Black Scroll.”

After the Black Scroll, I’ll put together “Red Mirror Erotica,” a compilation of sex scenes from all three books of the Red Mirror series. I haven’t decided if I’ll weave a story to connect the scenes or present them as vignettes.

I created “Isis Erotica” because one of my First Readers photocopied the sex scenes before passing on the book. I thought, why not write a version that’s all action and sex? Why not create a special Table of Contents that goes straight to the juicy parts?

When I began the process, Isis took on another persona. I wrote in sensual mode. I wrote in first person. The story is told entirely as seen through Isis’ hypnotic green eyes.

The Red Mirror series is a continuous story in the present, but Isis visits a different past life in each book—Pharaonic, Greek and Roman Egypt. All of my Isis-theme books contain parallel stories with the same circle of reincarnating souls, past and present.

What book are you reading now?

“Goodbye Darkness – Memoir of the Pacific War” by William Manchester. My father gave me the book. He and Manchester were Marines together in such hellholes as Guadalcanal and Guam (WWII). It’s given me tremendous insight into the nightmare that formed the complex, tortured soul who is my dad.

Book Description

Would you dare step back in time to find Mr. Right?

A frustrated Las Vegas party girl discovers a Red Mirror in an antique mall and succumbs to the lure of the bold-eyed woman in the glass. “Come,” the Mirror beckons, “taste of a life more sensuous than any dream.”

The exotic life that tempts is one she once lived as Isis, priestess in the mystic cult of Hathor, Egyptian Goddess of Love. "I have secrets," her aura teased. "Wonderful secrets that only I can share."

On the banks of the ancient Nile, she meets River God of bronzed flesh and snowy linen. "You shall fly to the stars with my tongue on your lotus," he breathes in her ear. Alas, the gods have other plans. Isis finds herself first on a quest for the all-powerful Emerald Tablet, and then without warning, back in Las Vegas.

Uncertain and unnerved, Isis joins best friend Barb for a surprise encounter that compels her to go back through the Red Mirror in search of River God. But a desert hunt goes all wrong, and Isis the sex slave lands in the grip of the Persian General's thick fingers. "If you please me," he proposes, "you will belong to me and me alone, but only as long as I am pleased." One fateful night, a ride on a comet shows Isis the dark side of love and sets the price she must pay for freedom.

"There is more to this collection than a love story. Add in reincarnation and mysterious artifacts that cross time. The writing is high quality and full of imagery. I highly recommend Ms Gore's work."

Four hot men crossing back and forth through time. They all want her. Who will have her? Does she have to choose?

Who says a woman should have only one man?

Who says there's a Mr. Right?

One man is not enough for Isis. One life is not enough.

She has the Power - The Hathor Power.

Author's note: If you want to go right to the juicy parts, use the special Table of Contents to jump to those vignettes.

"I was transported through time to a world of Egyptian gods and goddesses, temples and high priestesses, honeyed dates and cleansing oils. And a woman who will never be satisfied by just one man, although Isis does love them all with great intensity. She has great taste too - these men are to die for."

The Isis Erotica collection is comprised of three connected adventures  that can be downloaded as ebooks in three parts: The Red Mirror, The Persian General and The Great Green

Part One: The Red Mirror. Who knew an old mirror in an antique store would promise pleasures more sensuous than any dream? Isis meets River God of bronzed flesh and snowy linen, the man with The Touch. She will do anything to feel that touch, even cross through time.

Part Two: The Persian General. A wild desert hunt goes all wrong when Isis is kidnapped by the Persian General. A bull of a man with legs like the columns of a temple, he holds her life in his thick fingers. But Isis has a destiny, and Isis has the Power - the Hathor Power.

Part Three: The Great Green. Isis is the chosen one, chosen by her father Hermes Trismegistus to protect the Emerald Tablet. But Isis needs protection herself from the evil Crown Prince and the invading Persians. Cosmic forces bring together the circle of souls in two passion-filled nights - one below deck on River God's ship on the Nile and the other on the Las Vegas Strip.
