Interview with Shannon McRoberts

1)Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

Verses of Athine is the new release I have out in paper and eBook.  I just finalized it.  I really am proud of it from the cover art to the final story arcs.  I had my editor do some final edits on all of my books and then I went back in and tightened up the story arcs to make it one big interlocking series instead of just 4 loosely related books.  I recently discontinued the “single” editions of each of the stories other than Athine Verses:  The Beginning, which I left as my perma-free standalone book. You can also find The Secret of Genetic Corp X still available with the paper back coming soon J
2)Are you a mom ?

Yes, I have a 4 year old daughter.
3)If yes do you find it hard to juggle writing and parenting?

Sometimes because I work full time and then she wants me to pay her attention when I get home so it leaves little room for creativity.  I find also that I am the type of creative person that has to be inspired to do my best work.  Therefore, writer’s block also complicates the issue or maybe it is more of writer’s over tiredness LOL.

4)What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

I am painfully shy and like to be private.  I like being out on the internet because nobody really knows who I am.  It is a different world when you had a book to someone that KNOWS you like a friend or a parent.  It goes from ‘this is something that I am reading’ to ‘my child/friend/spouse wrote this’.  I just recently put up an actual picture of myself for the world to see J

5)When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?

I like playing MMORPGs and watching things like Game of Thrones, SyFy Channel, and playing with my daughter.

6) Which romance book or series (or other genre, if you don’t write romance) do you wish you had written?

I wish I had written The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.  I love those books!

7)Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?

Athine or Nikeda.  These are two of my main characters.  Athine is a little like me and as she is the main character that started the series she will always be my ultimate favorite.  Nikeda, well she’s a bad ass vampire that I made up.  I love vampires and kick ass women--and I managed to bring one to life when I wasn’t even trying J

8)What is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in progress?

Cursed Bloods will follow after this book and I’m currently writing it.  I don’t know what is going to happen totally, but I hope to have it completed and out in eBook by 2014-2015.  I also hope to get some more short stories cranked out!

Book Description:

Take what you know about mythology and throw it out the window....

Do you have any idea what Zeus, Odin, Pandora's Box, Atlantis, Machu Picchu, Hera, Nike, Dragons, Vlad, Clones, and Vampires have in common? Athine does!

Athine is not your ordinary immortal born goddess. Learn of her mysterious origins, learn why Zeus hates her so much, find out where vampires come from, and learn what really happened to the dragons.

The Daughter of Ares Chronicles follows Athine as she uncovers the secrets of her destiny while interacting with key figures from many mythologies.

This printed version contains novellas one through four in one complete edition.

About the Author:

My name is Shannon McRoberts.  I am an independent artist, author, and poet.  I have been self-publishing books of all kinds since 2005.    My first book was a poetry book called Poetry for the Chronically Heart Broken and Depressed.  That book has since been replaced with a more robust collection called Erosion of the Heart.  I am currently working on bringing this book to paper format and expanded distribution through Smashwords.

My first ever sci-fi book, The Secret of Genetic Corp X, has been compared to Blade Runner.  I am also currently working on having this book brought back to a paper edition.

My favorite series, The Daughter of Ares Chronicles, features Athine, an immortal born goddess that I created for the series.  In this series, I take mythologies of all kinds and turn them on their ears!

When I am not working or creating fantasy worlds for my characters to live in I enjoy being lost in MMORPGs, good books, and in the company of my friends and family.

I currently live in Kentucky with my wonderful husband and beautiful daughter.
