Interview: Training Temptation by Diana Baron

Please share a little about yourself, your genres, any other pen names you use.

Hello and thanks for hosting me today. I live in Silicon Valley in Northern California with my soon to be husband. We’re getting married in the fall. I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. I wrote stories all through elementary school and into high school and college. About a year and a half ago, I decided to write a novel. As I worked my way through the process of writing, I learned about the industry and decided to self-publish Training Temptation.

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

My debut book is Training Temptation. It is an erotic romance set on a ponygirl ranch. The heroine, Lady Caroline, is about to lose the family home and must win a ponygirl race if she has any hope of keeping it. Her longtime rival Edward Hastings offers to train her with the goal of seducing her. His plan backfires and he ends up in a precarious battle for her home and her heart.

Have you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own life?

Training Temptation is definitely not based on any real life events. However, the hero, Edward, is a composite of all the bad boys I’ve dated. I always wondered why I went through all those experiences, and now I know. It was all for the good of the writing.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

I have a day job as a technical specifications writer for computer software.

When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?

I play poker in a league. I’m pretty good and I’ve played in the World Series of Poker multiple times. I’m very competitive so playing poker is a fun way to compete as well as make new friends.

Which romance book or series (or other genre, if you don’t write romance) do you wish you had written?

50 Shades of Grey… because then I’d be rich.

Is there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?

I’m working on a Romantic Suspense novel right now. I plan on alternating between that genre and Erotic Romance.

If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?

I’m working on the second book in The Stable series. The working title is The Art of Temptation and I anticipate publishing it this fall. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s about a recent college graduate saddled with a ton of student loans. She attends a ponygirl auction and ends up in the very capable hands of a sexy millionaire.

What book are you reading now?

I’m reading Tempting Evil by Allison Brennan. She’s one of favorite suspense authors.

What is in your to read pile?

I have about 200 books in my pile, 100 on my Kindle and 100 paperbacks. I read about 2-3 books a week so even though it sounds like a lot, it’s probably only 2 years worth of books. I tell myself to stop buying more books… but how can you resist just one more?

Book Description:

Caught in a web of deceit, Caroline must run the race of her life to save her family home. Her reputation as the high society owner of the #1 stable for Ponygirls in the world is on the line. And, there’s only one man who can help her win.

Edward Hastings is steamy, passionate and dangerous. With molten brown eyes and a rock hard body, the notorious playboy could have any woman in the world, but he only wants her. The first time he’d seen Caroline dressed like a pony, he’d been enthralled. Now, nothing will keep him from her.

They strike a deal. He’ll train her if she sticks to his rules. But rules were made to be broken. The moment he slides the bit into her mouth, she knows she’s in trouble. As he ignites a fire in her body and her mind, will she make it through the week without losing her heart to him? Or will she be able to train temptation?

About the Author:

Diana began writing the moment she learned how to hold a pencil. By elementary school, she was writing and directing plays for kids in her afterschool program. Over the years, short stories piled up on her nightstand. At night, she could always be found holding a flashlight and a book under her blanket.

She studied writing and literature through high school and into the first two years of college. But then, her fascination with other cultures and religious practices took over. She has degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Comparative Religious Studies from San Jose State University and is published in non-fiction.

After college, her life took an unexpected turn. She's currently a project manager and technical spec writer for a Silicon Valley computer company by day and a daring novelist by night. When she's not tearing up the felt playing at the World Series of Poker, she's traveling to her favorite Caribbean islands.
