Interview with A Katie Rose

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

Its a stand-alone fantasy tale with two antiheros opposing one another. One is a good guy who has done terrible things in his past, and the other is the bad guy - who finds himself looking at himself in an entirely new way.

When you're not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?

Both. Hobbies (passion) is for working with my horses. I love teaching and learning from them, enjoying their company. They've taught me much about myself, and I've changed for the better because of them. Guilty pleasure? Diet coke, wine and movies.

Is there a genre(s) that you'd like to write and haven't tackled yet?

Yeah, I'd love to try historical fiction. or a mix of history/fantasy. I love history and there are so many cool stories that would make great novels.

If this book is part of a series...what is the next book? Any details you can share?

"In a Wolf's Eyes" is the first book of my Saga of the Black Wolf series. "Catch a Wolf" is the second, and was released this past July. It picks up where "Eyes" ended and delves deeper into the characters and what they fear the most.

What book are you reading now?

A how-to-train-your-horse-better non-fiction called "Zen Mind, Zen Horse". Its actually quite good, and interesting. While I love learning more about horses, most how-do books bore me silly. This one doesn't. I don't read every night as I might a good novel, but I'm actually learning from it.

What is in your to-read pile?

A true pile - bought several Anne McCaffreys a while ago and haven't gotten to them yet. I'd like to read a book by my friend Rayne E. Golay called "The Wooden Chair". I entered to win it on her blog tour, but I haven't heard if I had. Hmmm. Perhaps I should check. Anyway, I'm making many author friends and I'd like to read their stuff when I get the chance.

Raine is a slave, a gladiator. Known as the Bloody Wolf, he is the champion of all champions in the Empire of Khalid. Ly’Tana is a warrior princess of Kel’Halla and is set to wed the heir to Khalid’s throne, Crown Prince Broughton. When Raine and his new wizard pal, Rygel, accidentally murder the High King, they set in motion events rapidly spiraling out of control. Ly’Tana discovers the true, and violent, nature of her betrothed, a man nicknamed Prince Brutal for his vicious nature, and escapes her marriage.

But Brutal will stop at nothing to have her for his wife. To entice his runaway bride into a trap, he brings down and captures her griffin bodyguard, Bar. Ly’Tana vows to have Bar back or die trying. She seeks the help of Raine and Rygel, and frees Bar from Brutal’s clutches. Yet, in doing so, Raine and Ly’Tana are forced to flee for their lives, hunted by Brutal’s secretive assassins.

Can they escape the hunters and their silent, evil hounds? Can Ly’Tana evade Brutal’s hungry need to marry her and seize her beloved country? Can Raine keep Ly’Tana alive and still save himself from capture and torture? Can they stop themselves from falling in love?

Thus begins the first novel of The Saga of the Black Wolf series.
