Interview and Giveaway with GL Ross

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

Book one of the Flyboy Trilogy is Turbulent Passion, which happens to be my first contemporary romance. The Flyboy Trilogy is a suspenseful, sexy, love story centered around the airline industry.

Are you a mom ?

I am a single mom. My son will be twenty-two years old this month. My ex-husband was not involved during his childhood, so Brandon and I are very close. I have great respect for single parents and parents of children with disabilities. Brandon is deaf and has Asperger’s, so I completely understand life’s challenges and the importance of a good attitude. Faith is very important to me.

If yes do you find it hard to juggle writing and parenting?

One reason I put off writing was due to lack of time. Honestly, by the time I took care of Brandon and worked I was so exhausted I would fall asleep saying my prayers! But, my mind was full of ideas, so I took pages and pages of notes and ideas. Once my son left for college I pulled out those notes and got busy!

Have you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own life?

Yes, most of my characters are a unique mix of two or three people from my life. The Flyboy Trilogy is loosely based on my years of working in the airline industry and stories from my numerous friends who work for airlines all over the world. The humorous thoughts Lisa shares in the book are actual thoughts of Flight Attendants when dealing with the public or when dealing with alpha male pilots.

Is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect to?

Initially, I began writing this story to show women the games men play. My desire is to impress upon the reader the importance of waiting for love rather than settling for lust. I want women to feel empowered inside and outside the bedroom. Lance & Lisa’s story evolved over two and a half years. Four times I completed the book and then would have a new idea. Finally, in a dream, the story became clear to me and Turbulent Passion was created. The original message is still there, but it’s mixed with humor, suspense, and erotica. Turbulent Passion is fun, if I do say so myself. LOL.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

I was a singer and dancer at Six Flags Over Texas while in college. I performed in the Southern Palace & Crazy Horse Saloon. I love music!

When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?

I am a huge football fan, so during football season I am either at a game or watching a game on television. I am also a chocoholic!

Is there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?

I am in the beginning stages of a Teen Paranormal Trilogy. This is my first entry into young adult books and paranormal books. It’s really fun to create something that can be completely unreal!

Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?

Definitely Captain Lance Miller. Lance is an arrogant manwhore you want to despise, but you can’t help but love him because of the little boy hidden inside him craving love and acceptance. Lance is every woman’s dream, he is a sexual god who will put your satisfaction first, his body makes you drool, his voice makes you pant, he will ride in on his white horse and save you, he will do all of this but only after he checks his hair in the mirror! Lance is yummy, but he knows it which is a turn off, yet at the same time quite humorous. One reader wrote to me, “I love Lance. He is hot, but so in love with himself I have to laugh. I swear if Lance could do himself he would!” Creating Lance is fun because I know so many men like him. Men who are alpha male, arrogant, gorgeous manwhores who literally fall apart when they meet the one woman meant for them. Men will change; improve, but only for one woman – their soul mate.

If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?

Turbulent Passion is the first book in the Flyboy Trilogy. Burning Desire is book two and tentatively scheduled for a March release. Book Two picks up after the gut wrenching end of Turbulent Passion. I must be careful what I share, but I will say Lance’s world is turned upside down and Lance hates not being in control. Lance questions everything he has learned and experienced regarding love. In Turbulent Passion, Lance allowed love to enter his life, for the first time. It was extremely difficult for him to open his heart to someone. In Burning Desire, Lance’s heart plummets to an all-time low causing his emotions to spin out of control, but through his heartache he discovers more about himself allowing his heart to eventually encompass more love than he ever imagined possible. Lance’s Air Force reserve unit is also called into action. Lance becomes even sexier than ever…which is hard to imagine. Lance is hot! Lance has searched for years for his Goddess, but is Lisa really the woman from his dreams?

Book Description:

Bold, arrogant, and gorgeous are three words which describe the playboy of International Air, Captain Lance Miller. Unbeknownst, to everyone touching Lance’s life, is the fact Lance harbors a secret, a secret which continues to affect his relationship with all women. Love and trust do not exist in Lance’s world, only lust, sex, dominance, and an occasional busty blond.

Naïve, new hire, Flight Attendant, Lisa Price recently graduated from college and is desperately searching for her destiny, a destiny which at this time does not include a man, especially a pilot. Lisa is driven to succeed in all areas of her life, but she too has a secret. A secret she must choose to be embarrassed by or to honorably embrace.

Is it possible these polar opposites will find passion and trust in each other’s arms, enabling them to relinquish control and share their secrets, or is their attraction far too turbulent to pursue?
