Interview with lazarusInfinity Author of Exodus: A Requiem for Jacob Forlorn

Please share a little about yourself, your genres, any other pen names you use.

I’m a screenwriter/author an award-winning playwright from New Orleans.  Being a NOLA native, I’m definitely a fan of mysteries, thrillers and anything dealing with the supernatural.  However, I’m not about experimenting with other genres from romance to children’s fiction.

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

My latest release is REVELATION: THE RETURN OF JACOB FORLORN, which is the sequel to EXODUS: A REQUIEM FOR JACOB FORLORN.  It’s a two part series of a dark and brooding tale of a man destroyed by love, lust and betrayal.  Jacob Forlorn is an everyman looking to rebuild his life as he meets the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.  An intense romance ensues, filled with lust and deadly secrets coupled with haunting nightmares and supernatural visions which threaten to destroy his life.

Have you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own life?

The book is a composite of many bad relationship stories I’ve heard over the years from friends.  There’s tons of material out there on what women go through in bad relationships, but what men sometimes go through is all too often overlooked.  I wanted to go against the grain and tell the story of a man who tries to do the right things with the woman…and the dangers of trusting your heart to someone not worthy of it.

Is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect to?

For these books, the basic message is about being careful who you give your heart to and what you believe in because it can come back to haunt you.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

Aside from writing, I started out as an actor from the age of 8.  Acting was always my first love, which I enjoyed all the way up to college.  Somewhere along the way, I lost my faith and focus and just gave up.  Over the years, an old friend of mine who was in acting school with me went on to study in New York and eventually became a big star in Hollywood.  Being so proud of him and his success has inspired me to not only push forward as a writer but to one day get back into actor’s training and return to the stage.  That would definitely be a huge accomplishment for me.

When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?

I’m a huge movie buff.  I grew up on classics like CASABLANCA and anything from Hitchcock.  Later on in life I grew to appreciate other artists like Chaplin, Roberto Benigni and Kurosawa to name a few.  Between having a love of theater and the cinema, I try to incorporate all of it into my work.

Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?

Jacob Forlorn would have to be my favorite.  Even though the story is very dark, I grew to appreciate the journey and learn a lot about life, love and the nature of spirituality in the process.  Another character I’m working on for a book that will be out at the very end of the year is also becoming another favorite of mine.  Won’t be releasing details on that just yet, but I can say it’s pretty out of this world.  For future updates and other info, please feel free to subscribe to my newsletter at

If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?

REVELATION concludes the two part series that starts with EXODUS.  After the release of PORN AGAIN in April, I will start work on a three part series about vampires in New Orleans.  Following that will be a Sci-Fi love story to finish off the year entitled GENESIS.

What is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in progress?

The novel that I’m currently working on is entitled PORN AGAIN, which is loosely based on my years of working in adult retail.  The synopsis is listed below:
“What’s it like working in a sex store?”

That’s a question that Harper ‘Happy’ Downman will soon learn the meaning of…in more ways than one.

The poster child for middle-class America, Happy is your typical button-down, conservative Christian American with a quaint home, a lovely wife and a dull sex life.  At the height of the Great Recession, a drastic turn of events in both his personal and professional life rocks Happy’s world to its very core.  All seems lost…that is until his lecherous older brother comes to the rescue with a ‘stimulating’ solution that’s sure to raise more than just eyebrows within his eccentric family.

Relocating to the decadent, hedonistic streets of New Orleans, he soon finds that he’s way out of his league.  In a world of porn, sex toys and interesting characters, Happy takes a memorable journey of sex, love and relationships that he will never forget.
Porn Again is a funny and insightful romp proving that it’s not always the people who work in a sex store that you have to worry about.  Sometimes it’s the people who shop there.

Read it with someone you ****…

PORN AGAIN will be out in mid April.  For future info, feel free to subscribe to my newsletter at

About the Author:

"Just keep writing." Out of those simple words grew a dream that would instill a profound sense of purpose within a young kid born and raised in New Orleans, LA. With only his dreams along with an insatiable drive to be the best he could be, this writer would grow from penning children's literature in the 3rd grade to later writing stageplays and screenplays in college. Heavily influenced by a who's who of incredible writers from Langston Hughes, Claude McKay and Ralph Ellison all the way to August Wilson, Arthur Miller and Aaron Sorkin, lazarusInfinity has continued to stretch his creative boundaries to encompass all forms of writing. In addition to writing contemporary fiction and children's stories, he is currently at work on several screenplays along with another novel.
