Wenona, thank you so much for inviting me to do an interview
on your blog! You post such interesting articles, and I’m honored to be
included.
I’m happy to have you
here, Carole. Can you please share a little about yourself, your genres, and
any other pen names you use?
As Carole Remy, as you know, I write erotic romance and
erotica. My novels Twelve Nights and Who Is Candid? are available on Amazon
Kindle, and Beauty of the Beast will
be released on Kindle on May 7. Two erotic novels will be released as ebooks in
the next few months as well, Fantasy
Impromptu and Ophélie.
Under my own name, Mary Carol Moran, I have two books of
poetry, Clear Soul and Equivocal Blessings. I’ve also written a
Regency romance, which hopefully will be ready for publication in the next few
months.
Let’s see. I live in Mexico, which I love! My dog Gemma is
my beloved companion, and has lived with me in six states and two countries
over the last twelve years. I’m learning salsa dancing, which is a hoot, and
wood sculpture. I love my life!
Sounds awesome! Are
you a Mom? How do you juggle parenting and writing?
Yes, I have two daughters. They’re both adults now, and enjoying
life on their own terms, thank you Universe!
When I started writing, the girls were still at home. I was
a single parent with two kids and a full-time job teaching. They were old
enough not to need constant supervision, but I still had the daily carpooling,
mom-support activities. Maybe from the circumstances and maybe from my nature,
I became a binge writer.
My first novel took me seven days to write the first draft.
I probably shouldn’t admit that, but Spring Break was what I had, and I wanted to
see if I could do it. For me, editing works okay in smaller chunks, and I do
edit extensively! The first novel was Beauty
of the Beast, coming to Kindle on May 7, and in less than a year it was for
sale in every Barnes & Noble in the US. Six months later it had sold out
10,000 copies.
From that experience, I learned that binge writing works for
me, and that continues to be my work style. It helped to learn that many famous
writers, even William Faulkner, were binge writers too. And it fits with
parenting, at least for me.
Are your kids
supportive of your writing?
Totally. My younger daughter would half-peel a banana and
hold it out and say, “Eat, Mom!” Did I mention that I lose about 10 pounds
every time I write a novel? It’s the best diet plan ever!
Switching gears, is
there a romance novel or series that you wish you’d written?
It’s not exactly a romance series, but I love the Eve Dallas
novels by J. D. Robb. The mysteries are fascinating, but what holds my interest
is the always developing love story between Eve and Roarke. I often wonder what
happens after the wedding at the end of a romance novel, and with the In Death
series, we get to watch them through the years.
Is there a genre that
you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?
I’ve written a future based YA that I’d like to revisit and
edit for publication. From teaching high school, I know that teens are deeply
concerned about the future. I’d like to offer a vision of a perhaps physically
dystopian future, but one that isn’t hopeless. Yes, the world is hotter and
resources are scarce, but people are finding ways to cope. The heroine, Zea, is
uniquely gifted with paranormal abilities that offer hope for practical, humane
solutions. I’d like YAs to feel empowered, that the future isn’t all a bleak
wasteland.
That sounds great!
Let’s back up for a minute. Your current novel, Who Is Candid?, is it part of a series? What’s the next book? Are
there any details you can share?
My erotic romance novels aren’t a series in the sense of
sharing characters. They are linked by style, though, and that’s why the covers
all include the tagline Sexy Fun Erotic Romance. If you like one of the novels,
chances are you’ll like all of them. Each novel has smart independent
characters, LOTS of steamy sex, and they’re all laugh out loud funny.
Twelve Nights was
the first release to Kindle. A reviewer said, “It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me
blush...HOT!!!”
Who Is Candid? was
the second release to Kindle. “In amongst the mayhem, the fun and the characteristics of a
psychological thriller (yes - I don't know HOW Ms Remy does it) there's also a
tender love story that unfolds gently as our heroine herself opens up to the
erotic possibilities available to her.”
Coming May 7 is Beauty
of the Beast. An advance reviewer writes, "If you like to lose yourself in some zesty fantasy,
this is the book for you!"
As you can see, the defining characteristics of my novels
are Sex and Fun, hence the tagline Sexy Fun Erotic Romance!
Sounds like fun! Last
question, is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers
to connect to?
There’s not really a message, but maybe a theme. That sex
can be crazy, steamy, and wild, and still responsible and caring. That
intelligent, witty people can be hot as sin in bed, or on the countertop, or
behind the door... Most of all, that amazing, mind-blowing sex never involves
victims. Strong independent women and blazing hot tender men = Sexy Fun Erotic
Romance!
Thank you for
visiting today, Carole.
