One of my goals/resolutions for 2011 is to save money by lowering the monthly bills.
So far so good.
We turned in our SUV lease and bought a different, more economical vehicle for the family that will save us $50 a month on our car payment
This also lowers our car insurance by about $20
We dropped all of our movie channels from Directv- this will lower the bill by at least $30
We also knocked out extra services for our phone/internet bill dropping it by at least $20
Now I just need to figure out how to lower my monthly gas/electric bill.
We've switched to CFL bulbs, unplugged everything not in use, make use of power strips, and use a programmable thermostat. We've also done a lot of weatherizing, caulking and sealing but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. So...now I'm doing more research on how to be more energy efficient and continue to search for ways to lower my bills.
At least as of right now we've lowered our monthly obligations by about a $120.
Not bad but I hope to lower my bills further.
Any suggestions?
