Eco-Friendly Halloween Craft Ideas

Are you ready for Halloween yet?

Me neither. I’m just getting in the back to school groove.

But Halloween isn’t far from my mind. My Halloween costumes are already done, though mine needs a little altering and accessorizing, but the rest of the family has their costumes.

I just need to do some crafting, which I always do with the kids because they love, love, LOVE Halloween as much as I do.

In a lot of ways I think my family likes Halloween more than Christmas. We get to have all the fun of decorating and going to parties without the stress of gift giving. So in the spirit of Halloween crafting I am searching for spooktacular green ideas.

Here are a few that I found around the web:

The Go Green Blog has a list of six green Halloween crafts complete with tutorials. You’ll find egg carton bats, an egg carton spider, milk jug pumpkin, paper plate pumpkin masks, a ghost windsock and a toilet paper roll bat.

Green Halloween has several green crafts including this bejeweled black catthat I made. I know several people will complain about the spray paint but if you use Krylon’s low VOC paint it’s a little more eco than if you use regular spray paint. Just be sure to sand the plastic a little bit so it sticks better.

They also have a tutorial for a tin can luminary that is quite fab.

FaveCrafts.com has a huge assortment of Halloween crafts and several have an eco slant like these cute treat jars. Just grab a glass jar or two from your recycling bin to create them.
