Please
share a little about yourself, your genres, any other pen names you use.
I still
giggle to myself that all that time as a teenager I carried a notebook around
to write short stories, poems, or started novels I never finished, that I would
come full circle. My first novel finished I wrote with my oldest son in mind.
He complained that there weren’t any books with kids that looked like him, or
that were boys in the bookstore. So, I wrote the first one for him, and at
first, he didn’t like it. Thank goodness he was willing to critique it for me.
Tell
us a little about your latest or upcoming release.
Deviant Storm is the 2nd book in a Triology
based on a short story my husband wrote for an English class he hated. After
stumbling upon the paper one day, I felt there was so much more to the story.
He and I crafted the premise and I started writing, filling in, and creating. I
was so afraid that he wouldn’t like what I’d done with the adventure, however,
he enjoyed it so much his eyes watered up a little (don’t tell him I told you
that).
Peter Saints, the main character, meets up with his
nemesis, Gavin Steele who has hunted him from birth to steal his blood, which
is the key to an unspeakable power. Through Gavin’s manipulation, murdering,
and capture of Angel, the girl he loves, Peter refuses to accept defeat, and
rises again to destroy Gavin once and for all.
Are
you a mom ?
I’m a mom of 4 kids. And I am an Author as well as
an Engineer. Oh, and did I mention I homeschool two of my kiddos too?
If yes do you find it hard to juggle writing and
parenting?
It is a struggle organizing my day around writing,
working, and being a parent, much less a homeschooling parent. But I keep a
very tight schedule and write everything down. Also, my kids are rather
independent and help me out by cooking dinner, washing their own clothes, and
just giving mom a kiss here and there. Not to mention my oldest girl is one of
my most avid beta readers. My youngest daughter is also a budding author. My
son also helps with my promotions and writes also. Writing and creating stories
is a strong part of our lives as a family. Not to mention my husband is a lot
of help.
Have
you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own
life?
Most of my stories has a sliver of true events
within them. Although, my childhood wasn’t a typical one, it allowed me a
wealth of good material, lol!
Is
there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect
to?
The one message I share in my work is, “You can
overcome anything, and through it, at the end of it – you will become stronger,
fiercer and fuller.”
What
would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
That I was the product of a teen mom, who had me at
14 yrs old, and she worked three jobs to take care of my brother and I. To give
us a better life. And because of her sacrifices, I have accomplished beyond my
wildest dreams.
If
this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?
I am currently writing the last book in this series,
named Fierce Tides, and let me tell you I am throwing everything at Peter
Saints in this one. It will break my heart to come to an end to this series
because I fell in love with the characters so much.
What
is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in
progress?
Fierce Tides is planned for next November. After
that, I have about 26 untold story ideas waiting to be written – and the list
keeps piling up.

About the Author:
LM. Preston was born and raised in Washington, DC. An avid reader, she loved to create poetry and short-stories as a young girl. With a thirst for knowledge she attended college at Bowie State University, and worked in the IT field as a Techie and Educator for over sixteen years. She started writing science fiction under the encouragement of her husband who was a Sci-Fi buff and her four kids. Her first published novel, Explorer X - Alpha was the beginning of her obsessive desire to write and create stories of young people who overcome unbelievable odds. She loves to write while on the porch watching her kids play or when she is traveling, which is another passion that encouraged her writing.
