Is
there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect
to?
In my Connor series I would love readers to
understand that being different is okay. My main character is a bit awkward but
that is all right. We are all special no matter if we fit into certain groups
or how many people are in our inner circle. Being unique is empowering.
When
you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?
I love to read, exercise, swim and indulge in
chocolate. The day I turn my story into my editor is when I drink a red glass
or wine to celebrate. I’m kind of nerdy boring.
Of
all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?
That is hard but I would have to say Connor. She has
a little bit of me in her. It’s the unyielding wit and relentless sarcasm. Sometimes,
like her, my filter forgets to stay on.
If
this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?
Yes it is a part of a series and the next book
Connor, Revealed – book 2 is set to be released March 2016. I thought I’d share the synopsis:
Earth
While dealing with the aftermath of betrayal, the
dust has yet to settle before more supernatural sightings emerge. The San
cannot rest as they take on more responsibility defending Earth. Connor must
endure immeasurable physical pain as her abilities grow stronger especially
through the fights but particularly through The San brutal combat training for
they must prepare for what’s coming: War. Connor’s loyalties are questioned as
her actions are put to the test. She is forced to make harsh decisions against
the Elders disapproval when the world around her crumbles. Ultimately, one
decision will seal her fate.
Ether
Ronin a formidable opponent under Monlow’s rule is
back. He’s on a mission only no one knows what that mission is. The very one
closest to him is Connor his mortal enemy. Neither willing to accept their
destiny and yet it compels them. Will enemies become allies or do they battle
to the death.
This foreign planet known for its unyielding cruelty
is where Willow now resides. Ultimately, she’s forced to confront her actions
that put her there. Condemned to continuous battle she has to overcome her once
shallow self and accept the inevitability: fight or die.
What
is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in

1:
A Do Not Disturb
sign hung from the door handle. Cute. I walked in to waste more time and see
how they decorated this room. The walls covered with wallpaper were of
different sports memorabilia. It seemed like a typical boy’s room with
trophies, sports equipment, and toy model airplanes hanging from the ceiling.
Wait a minute. I
looked back at the trophies, checking the nameplates; they didn’t have names on
any of them.
I heard a
scraping noise by the hallway, so I quickly turned around but, once again, saw
nothing. Either I’m losing my mind or just paranoid. At least that’s what I
thought until I noticed the Do Not Disturb sign swinging back and forth from
the doorknob.
Someone is in
this house with us, worse yet, in this room with me now. I heard nothing nor
did I see anyone, but I sensed it, and it was not a welcoming feeling.
I had my hands
up, braced for anything that came at me. I slowly eased my way back across the
room, my back close to the wall, inching toward the door, breath on hold. As
soon as both feet touched the hallway, the door slammed shut behind me, and all
the lights in the house died.
In total
darkness, I jetted full speed in the hall and down the stairs, and then swung
open the basement door, popping the hinges, the whole time sensing someone near
me.
What were we
thinking breaking into this house? We clearly did not think this through.
I pulled on the
statue opening the door to the room. Tony was the first one out, with Byron a
close second, both asking what gives.
Out of breath, I
told them to wrap it up now, but they stood there looking bewildered.
“Now! We have
company, and we are not welcomed.” I then pulled on the statue to shut the
door, not waiting around. They quickly wrapped it up and hurried out as the
door was closing in on them. They followed suit, running after me, no questions
asked, the whole time still sensing something near me.
About the Author:
Dormaine was born in Long Island, New York where she lived most of her life. As an adult she liked to travel out of the country though her favorite places to explore were her fantasy worlds as an author. She may be a nurse by profession but her heart has always belonged to writing. As a young child she spent many Saturdays in the library nurturing her love for books. There she discovered her fascination for the science fiction genre, through books, movies and graphic novels.
Now she resides in Colorado with her husband and two feisty dogs. After many years of working in hospitals and travel nursing she took time off to pursue a career in writing. Her first novel "Connor" is in one of her favorite genres, young adult urban fantasy. Her second love is for horror of which she created the "Madame Lilly, Voodoo Priestess" series. This is just the start of her exploration as she stays locked up her office in Colorado spinning more tales.
