Rule Breaker by Sienna Snow

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

In my debut novel, Rule Breaker, Arya Rey is a brilliant software developer, whose dedication and attention to detail give her the ability to control every aspect of her technology domain.  She is a badass heroine, always in control.

With one exception, when she’s behind closed doors and in the presence of her dominate ex-lover Maxwell Dane. He is the only man with the ability to call to a desire no one dare know about: the need for submission, the need for domination. In Max’s arms, Arya can relinquish all power and gain the freedom she craves.

Rule Breaker takes you on a journey through Arya and Max’s high stakes world of technology and international espionage. Where their love is pushed to the limits, both literally and figuratively.

If you are a parent do you find it hard to juggle writing and parenting? Any tips for time management or sneaking in writing time?

I am a mom of two, very active children. I used to think I was busy when they were toddlers, but now that they are in middle school and junior high school, and I find I have even less time than before.

Until recently, I had a habit of saying yes to everything thrown my way. I was PTO (Parent Teach Organization) president, room mother, and school volunteer, in addition to housekeep, homework helper, family chauffeur, and mom. When I signed my book deal, I knew things had to change. I was stressed and stretched to the max. In addition, I felt like there weren’t enough hours in the day.

So I decided to reprioritizes. Once my tenure at PTO president ended, I happily handed it over to the next person (sucker) in line for the job ;-) Then I decided I would pick and choose what I would volunteer for at school. After that, I had to have a long talk with my husband, who was very used to me being a stay at home mom for the past twelve years. We came to an understanding that he would need to help and take on some of my duties with the children so I have a more balance writing, school, and family life.

We are still working on the give and take, but now I have created a strict schedule, where I start writing as soon as the children are off to school and stop when they are home.  Yes there are days where that can’t happen. For example, when I am on editing or revision deadline, but during those times, my husband has taken on the role of family chauffer to ease the stress and the children are happy with eating sandwiches instead of a big family meal.

There is one thing I have started doing that gives me writing time without feeling the mommy guilt. During the weekends, when my children are hanging out with friends or watching a movie at home, I come out onto my patio and write for a few hours with a cup of tea.

Have you ever based your book or characters on actual events or people from your own life?

The locations of different scenes in my books are places I’ve visited in my travels. It gives me a bird’s eye view of where my characters live.

Also, some of the events mentioned in my books are real events. I made sure I researched as much as possible before I added them into character’s world.

Is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect to?

What I want readers to grasp about my novel is that healthy, smart, well educated, and confident women can enjoy an alternate sexual lifestyle without having a background filled with trauma or issues.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

Most people would not know that I am a total Star Wars geek. I can sit for hours with my friends and family debating and discussing the different movies. Even during Halloween, we dress up as different characters.  My husband, children, and I have dressed as the Skywalkers (Anakin, Padme, Luke, and Leia) and this year we are dressing up as old school vs next generation (Darth Vader and Padme vs. Kylo Ren and Rey). It’s something our friends and family expect of us every year.

When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?

Two of my passions are travel and food. My plan is to visit all seven continents in the next ten years. In 2016, my family and I have visited Norway for the northern lights, climbed Machu Picchu in Peru, and swam the crystal blue bays off the coast of Virgin Gorda, BVI.  For 2017, I’ve already scheduled a trip to Costa Rica for Spring break and European adventure to visit Spain, France, and Italy.

I also love food. I love cooking and going out to try things, I’ve never tasted.
One of the best things about visiting different countries is the food. I love to go where the locals go and I will research and find an in the know spot to try in every city I visit.
My family and I pride ourselves on recreating many dishes we’ve tried on our travels.

Which romance book or series (or other genre, if you don’t write romance) do you wish you had written?

One of my favorite series written is the Guild Hunter Series by Nalini Singh. I’m taken away by her ability to draw in the reader and make us wish we lived in the fantasy world she’s created.

Is there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?

I am looking at writing paranormal/fantasy. I love reading the genre and have an urge to write something. I’ve outlined a few stories, now I only have to find time to dive into the writing.

If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?

Rule Breaker is the first in a three book series following three best friends on their journey to happily ever after.

The second book, Rule Master is the story of Milla Castra, a party girl, shipping heiress (imagine a Paris Hilton type of girl, but with degrees from Harvard and MIT). The story focuses on the ups and downs of Milla’s relationship with her husband, Alexander Duncan, following her kidnapping by arms dealers. Rule Master is scheduled for release on March 7, 2017.

What is next for you? Do you have any scheduled upcoming releases or works in progress?

I just finished editing my second book, Rule Master. The second in the Rules Series follows the ups and downs of Milla Castra’s relationship with her husband, Lex Duncan, following her kidnapping by arms dealers. Rule Master is scheduled for release on March 7, 2017.

I am also in the middle of writing book three, Rule Changer. This book follows Carmen Dane and her relationship with another dominant, Thomas Regala as they navigate a relationship where both of them are used to taking charge and making the rules. Rule Changer is set for release on July 11, 2017.

About the Author:

Born in London, England, Sienna Snow moved to the USA at the age of five. From an early age, she learned to balance two cultures, keeping the traditions of the Indian while learning the ins and outs of the American.

Her love of reading started at a very young age with “Beezus and Ramona.” By the time she entered high school, a girlfriend introduced her to Bertrice Small and Jude Deveraux (much to the horror of the nuns at her Catholic school), and an avid romance reader was born.

Writing was her childhood aspiration, but her loving parents encouraged her to seek a “real job.” So, she placed her secret passion on hold and went on to receive two bachelor’s degrees and two masters degrees.

After a prolific career as a management consultant and the completion of her husband’s medical degree, she became a stay at home mom and PTO Goddess.

Sienna has a deep-rooted love for travel and planning vacations years in advance. Her goal is to visit all seven continent in the next ten years.

When she is not writing, traveling, or reading, she spends her time with her husband and two children.

Sienna writes sexy romance, some with a lot of heat and spice and others with a bit of fantasy. Her characters represent strong women of different cultures and backgrounds, who seek love through unique circumstances.
