Poetry Corner- Tales from The Foxes of Foxham by Matteo Sedazzari #Fantasy #YoungAdult

For today's poetry corner Matteo has written a narrative poem for the
Tales from The Foxes of Foxham

As darkness looms overa castle near Naples
The witches of Benevento cackle as they lick their lips
A captured and frightened fox, Alberto, starts to cry
Remembering yesterday when he was free
However, amongst this wicked scenario, there is hope
Carlotta, a traitor in the witches’midst.
A good and beautiful witch with a kind heart
Who yearns togive Alberto back his freedom
For the fox’s liberty will save the world
As the witches’ sacrifice of this jolly fox
Will plummet the world into darkness
Where chaos and pain will be in abundance
With love and hope, a forgotten dream
As a real nightmare takes over the world.
Yet Alberto and Carlotta are strong in body, soul, and mind
Together tonight, they can escape The Witches of Benevento
But Alberto is nowcursed, destined for a life of terror
Only a good fox witch, Trudi Milanese, can break the spell
Yet she lives over the English Channel
In a village full of foxes, called Foxham.
Will the cheerful fox and the magnificent witch succeed?
Or will the witches be ghoulishly triumphant?
In this battle of good versus evil

Yet, fortunately for Alberto, he is rescued, then guarded, by his loving mother Silvia and mob boss father Mario with his troops, a good witch Carlotta with an uncanny resemblance to Marilyn Monroe, the Bears of Campania, the boxing wolves’ brothers Francesco and Leonardo, and other good folks of Naples and beyond.

However, their protection is not enough, for Alberto has been cursed. So, the young fox, along with his family, has to travel to the village of Foxham in Norfolk, the spiritual home of foxes across the world, to rid himself of this spell. The ritual has to be performed by a good fox witch, Trudi Milanese, but there is a problem, Trudi doesn’t know she is a witch….

Excerpt 4

Enoch, looking impeccable in a new tailor-made purple suit, red frilly shirt and black shining laced-up boots, all purchased from several shops in Jermyn Street, London, SW1, smiles a wicked smile as he gazes at the café, Milano’s, then upon the green grass of Foxham Common and the oak trees of Foxham Woods, which loom over the greenery.

Along with the quaintness of the High Road, the common and the woods is Foxham Hill, a 10-minute stroll through the woods or 15 minutes if you turn right at the end of Foxham High Road. Upon this hill is the old medieval tower, an ancient relic that tonight will be instrumental in the destiny of the world. Moreover, in the roads and the lanes of Foxham and scattered around the Common are the homely houses and cottages, one pub (The Six Bells), and an array of shops and small boutiques. In addition, left of Foxham High Road is Fox Hill Lane, another hill, which leads to Fox Hill Hall, passing the Town Hall, the library, the court and the police station on the way.

By the dark lord’s side stand his brutal bodyguards, the bloodthirsty red-capped goblins Edor and Eder, clutching onto their axes. At the back of Enoch and these vile creatures are Ettore the black cat in a new sailor’s cap and the Witches of Benevento. All five witches refused Enoch’s orders to stand behind Ettore as they entered Foxham. Enoch had further problems with the witches as he wanted them to look like aged hags for this evening, but the witches insisted they kept their attractive personas. Enoch was fighting a losing battle, so he has reluctantly succumbed to their demands.
