I have written poetry since a very young age. I have also always loved to sing. My Dad had visions of me being in musicals when I was little and we spent many hours together singing all the Broadway songs of the 1950’s and 1960’s. He had all of the vinyl records from the most popular plays and movies. I developed a great love of music from him and eventually, after so much singing, my attempts at poetry became more lyrical.
Over the years, I have written hundreds of lyrics and created the vocal stylings for all of them. Some of my songs may be heard on my Youtube channel – sybrinad. When I started writing children’s books, it was natural for me to write a song for each story and I always include the lyrics in each book. I also provide a link on the lyrics page to the audio so that interested readers can listen, too.
Now, I must tell you that I cannot play a musical instrument so at first that placed me at an extreme disadvantage in my desire to see my songs come to life. I’m happy to say that in the world we live in, every service we might possibly need to help us accomplish any goal we might have is available on the internet.
Through lots of trial and error, I discovered that I could place a metronome app on my phone and record my song with another recording app. This, I could save to an MP3 or WAV file, which I could send to my chosen instrumentalist. Once I received the finished music back from them, I had something to send (WAV file) to my chosen vocalist and wah-lah, I soon had an amazing song that I could add to video book trailers or even post on Itunes or any other music service. I’m sharing a little bit about this process just in case you, too, may be in a similar situation. With a little research on service providers like Fiverr, you can bring your own music to life.
If you’d like to hear the signature song for the Magical Elements of the Periodic Table book series, go to https://youtu.be/tcB8KDWAd8w . Don’t be put off by the fact that it features unicorns rather than the wizards in this book, as unicorns were the first elementals presenting elements in the series. All of the Elementals still have the same message for you, “No Metal – No Magic . . . and No Technology”. Truly, without the elements of the periodic table, we would not have all of the things we have in our modern lives.
Here are the lyrics to No Metal – No Magic. Enjoy!
