Excerpt
Three:
Liam slid his
hand under the small of my back without breaking our connection. His arm
wrapped firmly around my waist supporting me slightly before he adjusted me to
fit underneath him. He pressed his hips into mine. All the tension that had built
up between us melted away as we lost ourselves in one another. We explored each
other in ways we had not yet dared. Everything until that moment had been
lustful, a tease in the hindsight of temptation.
We were more
than physical attraction, though our bodies burned and ached with desire to
appease the longing for one another’s touch. Somehow, in some way, the universe
had a hand in our destiny, pushing us together, encouraging our union. The
fight to stay away was lost with a single touch. The urgency to protect him
from himself was more damaging than giving in and fulfilling what was always
meant to be. We were and always would be stronger as one. It was why I would
always choose Liam.
About the Author:
Heather Girton has been a creative writer since her childhood, writing creative stories and poems for the love of imagination and literacy. It started out as an outlet for personal struggles and a way to cope with them through fictional fantasy and turned into a passion and need to share her aspirations with the world. It wasn’t until 2013 that she decided to share her talent through fictional novels due to the encouragement from her family and friends.
Since graduating high school in 2006, Heather has spent the last eleven years being a dedicated mother and military spouse. In that time she nurtured a family of four children all while traveling the country following her husband’s career. She spent the last five years working towards her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology. She has done volunteer work with grief support organizations gaining experience with her field of study.
Currently Heather lives in Texas with her husband, children, support dog, and lazy cat. She is an avid reader and loves it as much as she adores writing. She spends her free time sharing her devotion for it with her children. When she isn’t reading, writing or focusing on her family, Heather has a personal admiration for photography.
Maximum Ride meets Sin City in the Renegade Heroes series!

And with her revelation comes a terrible solution none of them can accept.
Worse still, Kasey soon comes face to face with the nightmares of his past.
Will the heroes find the strength to face the consequences of their mistakes? Or will Kasey be forced to make the ultimate sacrifice?
Blue Brennan is jaded and bitter despite her pinup girl looks and quick wit. Night after night, she scours the Seattle club scene looking for someone or something to fill the emptiness inside.
When she meets the mysterious Kasey, her world stops… literally. He claims she has the ability to control time and stuns her even further when he reveals his own gifts.
Blue is inexplicably drawn to Kasey and reluctantly enters his world filled with a new breed of humanity. They’re misfits like her, blessed or cursed with powerful abilities, struggling to hide their differences from the rest of society.
Then the group discovers a nameless, faceless sociopath with nightmarish powers; and he’s coming for Blue. She’s left reeling when they discover her gifts are the key to defeating his terrible evil and saving them all.
Now she must race against the clock to harness her own powers and save her new friends. Can she be more than a renegade? Can she be a hero too?
Rose Shababy and her family reside in eastern Washington State. Rose grew up in the Northwest but swears she’s going to move to warmer climates someday. She’s claimed this for over 20 years, however, and has yet to move more than 75 miles away from her mother.
Rose has a deep love of all things Star Trek and yearns to travel the heavens, as well as an intense desire to be bitten by a radioactive spider. Unfortunately she sucks at science and math so she hasn’t been able bring her dreams to life, instead living vicariously through books, comics, television and film. She hopes to someday make a million dollars so she can afford to buy her way to the international space station, but she’d settle for being able to fly around the world and leap tall buildings in a single bound.
Rose also loves to cook and worked for years in a gourmet Italian grocery and deli where she learned to hone her skills. She prepares culinary masterpieces for her family, but fervently wishes the dishes would wash themselves. Especially now that her dishwashers/children are nearly grown and only one still lives at home.
Rose likes to use her free time wisely. For instance, she likes to daydream, will often read for hours until she falls asleep on the couch with an electric blanket and a warm tabby cat curled up on her hip, as well as spending cozy weekend days watching Syfy movies like Sharknado and Mega Piranha with her husband.
If Rose were a cartoon animal, she’d prefer to be a wise old owl or a sleek and sexy jaguar, but in reality she’d probably be a myopic mole with coke-bottle glasses.
Please share a little about yourself, your genres,
any other pen names you use.
I’m Alexis D Craig on paper (and according to my
parents), but Lexie in my regular life, and I write romance. There’s something
about falling in love that I find magical, and I enjoy writing about it.
Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming
release.
The Ex File is a hot romantic suspense liberally dipped in comedy. Two
old friends reconnect, and not everyone is as pleased about it as they are. The
consequences of being happy can be varied and violent, as Sean and Ellie find
out. Sometimes, when the past comes knocking, it’s best to just lock the door
and hide.
Have you ever based your book or characters on actual
events or people from your own life?
Definitely. I love bringing people into my
life into my little microcosms. I never do it without permission, but I do have
fun with that aspect of my writing. Josh and Dane in The Ex File have
foundations in very real people in my life.
What would your readers be surprised to learn about
you?
I am a bona fide Hello Kitty addict, to the point where I have Boba Fett
Hello Kitty tattooed on my ankle.
When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have
any hobbies or guilty pleasures?
I love ghost hunting, and I am a crafting
fiend. I have as many hobbies as I do digits, and I take as much joy in those
as I do writing. I love to bead, paint, draw occasionally, and take great pride
in my Craftastic Pinterest board. So far everything I’ve done from there has
been rock awesome. I also love to ride my bike along the Canal in downtown
Indy. The view is wonderful and I’m determined to do 20 miles in a stretch and
befriend the ducks. So far, the ducks do not appreciate my efforts.
If this book is part of a series…what is the next
book? Any details you can share?
The Ex File is Book 1 in my Behind the Blue
Line series. Sean, Ellie, and their friends were so much fun to write, that I
didn’t feel like stopping at just one. Book 2, coming May 23rd,
2015, is titled Dead and Disorderly and focusses on Nico Verrazzano, a detective
friend of Sean’s you meet in their story, and the tiny little hurricane with
the turquoise streaked hair, Nahia Wellington. She’s nothing like any other
woman he’d ever encountered and quickly becomes everything he’d ever want.
Put together by her meddlesome best friend (and
Nico’s partner), Nigel, Nahia’s suspicious of the immediate spark between them.
She’s not one for love at first sight, but she also knows better than to ignore
the Universe when it takes out a billboard to get her attention.
Together they are drawn into a case involving a
haunted house with a tragic past that hits closer to home than either one of
them expect.
It’s all fun and games until the walls start
bleeding.
What is next for you? Do you have any scheduled
upcoming releases or works in progress?
Dead and Disorderly, Book Two in the
Behind the Blue Line Series is due out May 23rd, and a separate
romantic suspense standalone entitled Bulletproof Princess is due out August 8th.
I also have a RomCom I just finished called No Such Thing, but I don’t have a
release date for that as of yet.

Second Chances Can Be Lethal
Narcotics Officer, Sean O’Leary is bitter after a messy divorce that has reinforced his solitary nature, leaving him only with his dog and a sword collection. He could never imagine that his former best friend may be the only woman to bring happiness into his lonely life.
Ellie Gardner knows loss; especially after she was banished from her best friend/crush's life by his jealous wife. Although the regret of walking away from the love of her life still stung, a chance encounter with Sean may change everything.
When Ellie and Sean reconnect, they could never expect it'd be in such an explosive way, leaving them both to gain the fulfillment of their 'what if's.
Finding love is hard enough without the past breathing down their necks, especially when said past has no intention of letting go. When Sean's ex, Pia Mastriani returns, Ellie must face her nemesis' relentless tactics to get Sean back, including eliminating Ellie if necessary.
Sean and Ellie’s relationship is put to the test but will they fare well while they go rummaging through The Ex File?
Tempting fate,
he cupped her cheek, heartened when she didn’t turn away from him. “I may be a
lot of things,” he started, “but I’m not that kind of bastard. That much I can
promise.”
“But you didn’t
call.” Her voice was small, full of confusion and accusation even as she hooked
her fingers through his belt loops.
Sean rested his
forehead against hers, feeling the heat of her whiskey breath against his lips.
“You said you were going to call me right before you ran out the door the other
morning.” He hoped that by showing the parity of their situations, it would
make her feel better.
“I didn’t run.”
Ellie tilted her head back to look him in the eye, “I walked, with dignity and
great haste.” She held a straight face for only a moment before breaking into a
quiet chuckle.
He could feel
himself grinning like an idiot. He nuzzled his nose against hers. “Fine, you
left with great haste.”
She turned her
face away and mumbled something that sounded like, “I didn’t know what else to
do.”
“Eleanor,” he
purred as he placed a finger under chin and turned her face to his. She looked…
scared? Ashamed? It was several shades of emotion at once, and he wanted
nothing more than to hug her as tight as he could to make them go away. “El.
You know what I did last week?” She shook her head. He licked his lips and
laughed slightly. “I arrested a couple hookers, did some buys. Hung out with
Guinness. Went a little nuts on eBay for a couple antique swords. It’s an
exciting life I lead, huh?”
Ellie’s eyes
fell from his to his lips, finally landing on his chest. “I’m sorry for
doubting you.”
Sean threaded
his fingers through her hair as he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. “No,
don’t apologize. We’re both kinda new at this.” When she looked back up at him,
she looked like she was about to cry. That wouldn’t do at all. He brushed his
lips across hers, pleased to see the surprise in her eyes. “We’ll work it out.”
She reached up
and tucked his bangs behind his ear, her fingertips igniting little sparks
against his skin as she trailed them down his neck to his shoulder. “I’m sure
we will.” When she arched up into him as she kissed him, he knew the heaven
he’d experienced the other night hadn’t been imagined. Her fingers wound in his
hair, the way her breath caught when he bit her neck, her leg hooked around
his, damn, he hadn’t realized how much he’d missed this.
The knock at the
door broke them apart for only a second. She looked at the door, and the clock
on the stove, before pulling him tight against her again. “Wrong house. They’ll
figure it out.”
That was all the
permission to continue he needed, grabbing her by the waist and lifting her
onto the counter. Stepping between her legs, he dropped his hand to her knee,
moving it slowly up her thigh and dragged her dress with it. Ellie tugged at
the collar and sleeves of his button down shirt, until he stopped only long
enough to toss it into the living room over the half-wall.
He framed her
face in his hands and peppered her lips with tiny kisses and nibbles as she
wrapped her legs around his waist and pressed herself as close to him as she
could be while still dressed.
The banging on
the front door recommenced, this time with the familiar timber of a cop on a
mission. “Eleanor Gardner. Open the door now or I’m coming in there.”
